PSRC ECHS Quiz Bowl Team

LUMBERTON — The Public Schools of Robeson County (PSRC) Early College Quiz Bowl team has secured a coveted spot in the North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities (NCASA) State Finals.

This achievement comes after an impressive performance in the regional competition held on March 8, 2025, where PSRC Early College finished in second place, earning an automatic qualification for the state tournament.

"I am incredibly proud of our team for this incredible achievement! This is a huge milestone, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our team members' hard work and commitment,” said Andrew Davis, Principal of PSRC Early College High School.

The PSRC Early College team's journey to the state finals began with a strong showing in the NCASA Winter League, an online tournament spanning seven weeks. Competing alongside 41 other high schools across North Carolina, PSRC Early College placed third in the Eastern Region.

"These scholars have worked extremely hard and put in the hours to achieve this accomplishment; it has been an honor to coach them," said PSRC ECHS Quiz Bowl Coach John Allen.

The upcoming NCASA State Finals will feature 16 teams, including 12 automatic qualifiers from regional meets and four at-large selections. The tournament, conducted in partnership with the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT), will determine the top three teams to represent North Carolina at the NAQT National tournament in May.

NCASA organizes three quiz bowl tournaments annually, with teams having the opportunity to participate in additional competitions throughout the year. The Quiz Bowl format tests students' knowledge across a wide range of subjects, including art, literature, science, math, history, geography, sports, and current events.

The PSRC Early College Quiz Bowl team's success reflects the dedication of its students and the quality of education provided by the Public Schools of Robeson County. Their achievement not only brings recognition to the school but also showcases the academic excellence of Robeson County students on a state level.
