BENEFITS

Health insurance benefits are provided by the State of North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Comprehensive Major Medical Plan for full-time permanent employees with premiums paid by the employer. Optional premiums to cover spouse and/dependents are available at an additional cost.
Term Life Insurance: Reliance Standard Life
Basic life insurance of $5,000 is provided with premium paid by the employer. Optional employee and dependent coverage is available at minimal cost and must be purchased at time of enrollment.
A disability income plan is provided by the state at no cost for full-time regular employees. Comprehensive short-term and long-term disability income plans are provided for employees who are members of the Teacher's and State Employees' Comprehensive Major Medical Plan and meet certain state service requirements.
Full-time permanent employees participate in the State of North Carolina Retirement System. Both the employee and the employer contribute to the fund. Employees are vested in the retirement system after 5 years. Toll free number 1.877.627.3287

Permanent full-time employees are eligible to purchase vision insurance coverage through Superior Vision. Dependent Coverage is also available. 1-800-507-3800
All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the state sponsored 401 (k) Plan available through payroll deduction and is administered by Prudential Retirement.
403(b) Tax-Deferred Annuity
All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 403(b) Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA) program through a pre-taxed monthly payroll deduction. The Board of Education maintains a list of approved TDA companies from which employees may select.

Direct Deposit
Paychecks can be deposited directly through any financial institution that is a member of ACH (Automated Clearing House).
All employees may join the North Carolina State Employees' Credit Union. Upon obtaining membership, the employee's spouse, children, and parents may become members. Services include loans, savings and checking accounts.
