The Public Schools of Robeson County would like to address comments made by Mr. Doug McBroom during the public comments section of the PSRC Board of Education meeting on Aug. 8, 2023.
“Your official government website is outdated and false,” he said.
He also stated, “This data has been like this for 10-plus years.”
He also spoke about AYP information which he also identified as outdated information.
Mr. McBroom’s comments came after he contacted PSRC Central Office by phone on Aug. 3, 2023. McBroom was transferred to the Technology Department for assistance.
Mr. McBroom did not identify himself when he requested access to website pages containing old information previously published by the Public Schools of Robeson County, and no longer on our website. Mr. McBroom provided “breadcrumbs” to the specific information he was looking for, including outdated AYP information. The information was located on some pages that were unpublished because the information was outdated. The employee republished those pages while on the phone with Mr. McBroom at his request. The information was again removed.
Thus, statements containing that information presented by Mr. McBroom during the public comments session at the August 8, 2023 meeting were incorrect. It was not live on our website and the information was only republished for a short time specifically at his request, after he contacted our office for assistance.
The school district’s website is continuously updated with new events and announcements. New features are added to make navigation easier for all of our website visitors. Outdated information is typically removed as the website is updated. The website was recently revamped and we are in the process of reorganizing and recategorizing pages.
We want our parents and community members to know that we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information at all times. Mr. McBroom’s statements and accusations, whether intentional or not, were false and misleading.
