The Public Schools of Robeson County has 36 School Library Media Coordinators who coordinate the information skills program, which is a basic part of the K-12 curriculum.

A major function of the school media program is to be responsive through activities, materials, and services to the classroom instructional program. By teaming, communicating, planning, and cooperating, school library media coordinators and teachers can extend and support the instructional objectives of both the classroom and the library media center. School library media centers are laboratories of learning activities and are vital to:

developing a love books and reading
creating inquiring minds
satisfying curiosity
stimulating the imagination
helping students become skillful users of all types of libraries, materials and technology
