Attention Seniors,
There will be a WorkKeys meeting for all seniors tomorrow Tuesday March 9th at 6:00pm. A google meet link will be sent to your school email for you to join the meeting. The WorkKeys Test is very important to seniors as they enter the workplace. Test scores will tell future employers your level of expertise and if you would be a good fit for their company or business. There are four levels of passing the test, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Any senior that passes the exam will receive a certificate; additionally, anyone scoring gold or platinum will receive a cord to wear at graduation. Taking this test will validate your skills and the certificate you earn will show potential employers that you will be a valuable employee with the skills needed to do a good job. The WorkKeys test will be given during the week of March 19, 2021.
Thanks and Have a Great Day

Students that attend school on M/T will be strictly virtual on R/F and vice versa. Students are not allowed

Parents/Students,
Any student that did not test last week has until Friday February 19th to do so. However, it would be awesome if you test by this Wednesday February 3rd so it would not affect the grade on your report card which goes out on Monday February 8th. If you do not makeup an exam you will receive a zero. Exams count 25% of your final grade. I’m hearing students saying they have to work but that excuse won’t work when you have to repeat a class, attend summer school and it definitely won’t work for anyone on June 4th when they want to walk across that stage. We are going the extra mile to ensure students have an opportunity to pass their classes. Without an exam grade, students are more than likely to fail get out here and take your test.
Thanks and Have a Great Day

This message is to inform you that we had another successful day of testing. Today, the percentage of students testing was better than yesterday. However, the junior class is leading the way so ninth and tenth graders you got to do better. I’m expecting parents to make it happen. It is better to test now than later because later you will have to have an appointment in order to test. Everyone needs to remember that exams count for 25% of your final grade. The state of North Carolina is not using COVID as a reason not to test. Of course if you have COVID, live with someone with COVID or experiencing COVID symptoms then we don’t expect you to test at this time. Other than those reasons you really need to be here. Failing a class now will haunt you later so let’s get it done.
Thanks and Have a Great Day

This message is another attempt to inform parents about what's happening at their child's school. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for making today's testing a success. Although the turn out could have been better the testing environment ran smoothly. However, to make tomorrow's testing session even better please listen to the following suggestions:
1. Students should know their first semester schedule (I emailed all students the classes from first semester that are now being tested). Ask your child to find that email.
2. Do not be in a rush to drop students off or pick them up
3. If you are late please do not leave because your child may be too late to test.
4. Students experiencing any COLD/COVID symptoms should stay home.
5. Students living with anyone with COVID should stay home.
6. Anyone picking a student up after testing should have an ID and be on the pickup list (which was given out at OPEN HOUSE). This is standard operating procedure.
7. Please remember that parents can't enter the school building so when picking up students there may be a line. Get use to it because this is always the case and nothing new.
8. Buses leave school at 6am in the morning and return by 7:30am
9. Tomorrow we will be testing first semester's second period class.
10. I need all students testing to be present and accounted for in an effort to pass their class. Remember this exam is 25% of your final grade.
Thanks and Have a Great Night

Parents and Students,
This message is to inform you that Purnell Swett High School will be taking every precaution necessary to provide a safe testing environment for your child. With that being said, I have a few guidelines that must be followed in order for the testing day to be successful.
1. Only 10 students will be tested in a class.
2. Students need to charge chromebooks the night before testing.
3. Students should bring chromebooks and charger each day for testing.
4. Students should stay home if they feel sick or experiencing any COVID symptoms.
5. Students should stay home if someone in the household has COVID.
6. Students must wear mask 100% of the time.
Thanks and Have a Good Night.

This is a message to remind you that Fall EOC and CTE Testing is scheduled for next week beginning Monday January 25th ------ Thursday January 28th. Students that took an EOC or CTE class first semester should be present to take their exam. All EOC and CTE courses are listed on the school webpage, Facebook, and I personally emailed all students. Any student failing to take an exam will receive a zero for the exam grade which counts for 25% of the final grade.
First and foremost, any student experiencing any COVID19 symptoms should stay home.
We will contact you at a later date for testing.
School personnel will be outside to take temperatures before students are allowed to enter the school building. Students having a temperature above 99.9 must leave campus. All students must report to the gym to find out what classroom they will test in. Students will not be permitted to walk around the school building for safety purposes. This will be enforced and any student not following directions will be dismissed from school premises immediately. So parents get ready because we will be calling you if your child doesn’t want follow the rules and procedures. Safety comes first so you need to stress this at home.
Drop off for car riders and bus riders begins at 7:30. However, buses begin pickup at approximately 6:05 give or take a few minutes. Parents are only allowed to pick up students when an entire class is finished testing. Students that drive to school may leave once everyone in their class is finished. There are no exceptions to this procedure.
All information can be found on the school webpage, Facebook and student’s email.
Thanks and Have a Great Night I look forward to seeing students on campus next week

Parents, this is a friendly reminder that schedule changes are a process not an event meaning it doesn't happen the minute you put in a request. Both parents and students will have to wait and give counselors ample time to change schedules. You must realize that not all schedules can be changed and you will have to live with the schedule you got. There are many considerations that must take place for a schedule to be changed. This is not an easy process. Also, I do not need both students and parents calling because it will not make a difference. Parents do not dictate schedule because I do and I try my best to meet the needs and wants of students but sometimes that will not happen.
Thanks,
