ROWLAND — A local school’s assistant principal has been selected to participate in the N.C. Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association Future-Ready Leadership Program.

Union Elementary School Assistant Principal Kelsey Cummings will participate in the program which provides multiple opportunities for participants to learn and grow as professionals in instructional leadership roles.

“Through this cohort-driven model, assistant principals will participate in six day-long sessions and engage in assignments, projects, and readings designed to build the capacity of their schools and their own capacity as ‘Future-Ready’ school leaders,” said Dr. Shirley Prince, NCPAPA Executive Director.

Cummings shared words of excitement for the opportunity to participate in the program.

“Being selected for this prestigious program is not just an honor, but a privilege to represent the Public Schools of Robeson County,” Cummings said.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to represent this school district, and I look forward to the unique opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute alongside some of the best assistant principals in the state. I am excited to embrace this journey and bring back valuable knowledge to PSRC and make a meaningful impact,” she added.

The program allows participants to dive deep into NC Standards for School Executives as they relate to assistant principal and principal roles, leadership competencies necessary for school leadership, and planning for professional growth, according to Dr. Prince.

“We are honored to be a part of Mrs. Cummings' professional growth journey as she embarks on this transformative experience with our program,” Dr. Prince added.
