Our extended content standards classroom had a festive Christmas field trip today to First Baptist Church in downtown Lumberton! The students and teachers had a wonderful time, with special visits from Santa Claus and the Grinch spreading holiday cheer!
We are incredibly proud of our amazing food service team at Union Chapel Elementary for achieving a perfect score of 100 on their food sanitation grade! 🎉 Their hard work and dedication to meeting state standards ensure our students are always served safe, healthy meals. Thank you to these wonderful ladies for all they do! 🍽️👏

We’re excited to continue Union Chapel’s 12 Days of Christmas! From now until December 20th, we’re spreading holiday cheer with a festive lineup of dress-up days. Today’s theme was "Christmas Movie Marathon: Dress as Your Favorite Movie Character." It was a joy to see all the beloved Christmas movie stars walking the halls—making us want to cozy up with hot chocolate and binge-watch the classics. A huge thank you to all the students and staff who participated and helped make today’s celebration so special, filling our school with holiday magic and cheer!
Students in Kim McNeill's 5th grade class had a blast experimenting with the water cycle! From evaporation to condensation, they learned how water moves through the environment in a hands-on and interactive way.

Ms. Kim McNeill's 5th grade science classes are exploring wind speed! To make the lesson come to life, the students built their own anemometers—devices that measure both wind speed and direction. It's exciting to see such engaging, hands-on learning happening in our classrooms!
Join us for our Holiday Celebration tomorrow, December 10th, following the Parent/Teacher Conferences. The afternoon will be filled with exciting events, starting with conferences from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the teachers' classrooms. At 6:15 p.m., our Christmas Program will begin in the cafeteria, featuring performances by our 2nd and 3rd grade classes. While you're there, be sure to visit the cafeteria foyer to enjoy a display of the students' holiday artwork.
As an added bonus, food will be served. Hot dogs, chips, and a drink will be sold for $5.00. We look forward to celebrating with you!
We invite all of our Tiger Grandparents to attend our Grandparents' Breakfast tomorrow, December 10th, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
If your child is not riding to school with their grandparent tomorrow, please have the grandparent check in at the main office, and we will call for their grandchild to meet them. Additionally, please remind your child not to take breakfast from the grab-and-go cart if they plan to eat in the cafeteria.
Grandparents are invited to have their picture taken with their grandchild. Photos will be available for just $1.00 each. Please share this invitation with all of our students' grandparents.

Ms. Kim McNeill's 5th grade science classes are diving into the concept of air pressure! To enhance their understanding, the students created their own barometers and experimented to see which types of air create high pressure and which create low pressure. It’s wonderful to see this hands-on learning in action in our classrooms!
