This is how we roll at Union Chapel Elementary School. I hay-t you missed out on all this fall fun, but we had an ex-straw-dinary time on the hayride!
THANK YOU to our drivers, Mr. Delton and Mr. Scottie! Our students really enjoyed themselves.

Report cards for the first nine weeks of school will be going home tomorrow. Please be on the lookout for them and go over the contents of the report card with your child.

We’re excited to remind you about the hayride and Halloween costume parade happening tomorrow, October 31st! Participation in each event is just $2.00. All students can wear costumes to school, even if they're not in the parade. Please ensure that costumes are school-age appropriate, and remember, no face masks are allowed.

Please share this information if you know anyone in need this holiday season.

Mrs. Beth Locklear’s second grade class recently wrapped up their Module 1 lessons on “What is School and Why is School Important.” As part of this engaging unit, students created their own books titled, "The Most Important Thing About School." They collaborated in research groups to explore the challenges that students face in various countries, focusing on unique learning environments like Boat Schools, Tent Schools, and Doorstep Schools. After thoroughly researching these topics, the students edited and revised their books and then shared their work with Ms. Wanda Jones' kindergarten class, presenting their findings and insights with enthusiasm.

We are looking forward to our FALL PICTURE DAY RETAKES tomorrow, October 29th! If you would like for your child's picture to be retaken, or if your child was absent during the original picture day, please send a note to make the teacher aware.
Some exciting updates have been made to the Lifetouch photo program. Parents will now be ordering their child's photos online and all orders placed will be shipped directly to the mailing address provided to Lifetouch.
Instructions to do this were included on the paper picture day flyers that went home, and one is also attached below. Parents can subscribe and take advantage of the Advance Pay Credit, but they MUST subscribe to receive notifications from Lifetouch when their child's photos are ready to view and order.
If you have questions about placing your child's photo order, you may contact the Lifetouch Customer Care Team at 1-877-791-1676.

FYI

Oh no! Say it ain't so! Report cards go home on Halloween? I hope those grades are worthy of celebrating. If not, there will be no treats for you, my dear.

We have two fun fall events planned for Thursday, October 31st: a hayride and a Halloween costume parade. Both of these events cost $2.00 each to participate. If your child is wearing a Halloween costume to school, it must be school-age appropriate and no masks are allowed.

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and these teachers should be gushing with pride that they have little minis walking around dressed like them!
This week, as part of Red Ribbon Week, we are raising awareness about drug prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles among our students. We are encouraging the Union Chapel community to take a stand against drugs, foster discussions about the dangers of drug use, and promote positive choices.
Today, on "Dress Like Your Teacher Day," we are not only pledging to be drug-free, but we are teaching and telling others that they can live a drug-free life too.

Although this AWESOME group will be honored later in the year, we can't let National School Bus Safety Week end without recognizing the ones who make it all possible. We appreciate our bus drivers for following all rules and regulations and for making sure our students get to school and back home safely every day.
So, THANK YOU once again to Rene Emanuel, Anessa Clark, and Lindsay Hunt (at the back from left to right) and Darlene Chavis and Gen Bullard (on the front from left to right).

Enjoy more photos from the second and third grade buddies.

Our third grade students had a wonderful and interactive experience completing Module 1 in English Language Arts class. Their reading contracts, audio books, and bookmarks were a great way for them to engage with literacy.
Mrs. Kimberly Clancy would like to thank Ms. Elizabeth and Ms. Kateland for allowing their students to come over and visit and witness all of the hard work that the students had put into completing the module.
Kudos to Mrs. Clancy's students for being great mentors to their younger peers. Such collaborations foster a strong learning community!

Today, our kindergarten classes went on a field trip to Gallberry Corn Maze in Hope Mills. From the looks of things, they had an A-MAZE-ING time!
