The first day of school is Monday, August 29th. Our school day begins promptly at 7:50 am. Student drop-off will be in the back circle. We will no longer use the front circle for student drop-off or pick up. Late arrivals and early dismissals must be conducted through the front office. We look forward to seeing you soon as we kick off our next school year! El primer día de clases es el Lunes 29 de Agosto. Nuestro día escolar comienza puntualmente a las 7:50 am. There will be an early dismissal on Wednesday, February 23. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on this day. There will not be primetime on the afternoons of early release. We are also excited to remind you about Two's Day! On Tuesday, February 22, the entire school will celebrate with Tutu's, Ties or Tube Socks! Progress Reports will be sent home on Thursday, February 24. As always, thank you for your continued support as we work together for the growth and success of all students.

Rowland Norment Elementary School will be celebrating our 100th Day of School on Thursday, February 3rd! We are so proud of the progress our students have shown during these first 100 days, and we are excited about the growth and success we will see during the remainder of the school year! To celebrate our 100th Day, students and staff will be dressing like they are 100 years old! Students will have several fun and engaging activities with their classes throughout the day.

We are so proud of second grader, Anna Grace Willis, whose art was selected as one of the 2021 Holiday Card Series! Anna's card will be presented at the December Board Meeting for the Public Schools of Robeson County. She will receive a set of her cards and a plaque. Her artwork will be featured on Facebook and emailed to all PSRC employees! Congratulations, Anna!

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated annually October 23-31, and is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Rowland Norment staff and students will join in the awareness effort by highlighting each day with color. Monday, October 25th - "Red"y to live a drug-free life! (Wear Red) Tuesday, October 26th - Color my world drug-free! (Each grade level will wear a certain color) Wednesday, October 27th - Spotted being a ‘Jean’ius’! (Wear animal print) Thursday, October 28th - My character counts! (Dress as your favorite book character- face masks and any weapon-like accessories are not allowed.) Friday, October 29th- Celebrate Awareness! Wear Pink to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness.

You will be able to access the online application for the out of district requests until April 1st under the subheading of "New" from the district homepage: https://www.robeson.k12.nc.us/ Reminders: 1. For siblings, a separate application must be submitted for each student requesting a transfer. All requests shall be considered individually. There is no automatic approval of transfer requests for siblings. 2. Student transfers can be denied for the following reasons: 1) admission of the student would cause overcrowding of classes; 2) admission of the student would cause the district to hire additional personnel; 3) the student's prior attendance record; 4) the student's prior conduct record; and 5) other lawful reasons determined by the district. 3. Notification regarding requests submitted March 1, 2021-April 1, 2021 are projected to be sent in late June, with additional mailers to follow periodically. 4. Any transfer that is approved based upon false or misleading information will be declared void, and the transfer will be rescinded.

Due to potential severe weather conditions, the Public Schools of Robeson County will operate on a remote-learning schedule on Thursday, March 18th, 2021. Students will not be coming to campus. Teachers will have assignments for students to complete in their Google/Canvas classrooms. Please make sure students complete their assignments. This is how attendance will be taken on Thursday. Remember that Friday is also a Remote Learning day. Students will need to complete their remote learning assignment on Friday, March 19th as well to be counted in attendance for the day. Assignments will be posted in Google or Canvas classrooms. Students assigned to Week A will return for in-person instruction on Monday, March 29th, 2021. Stay safe.
