She brings a happy and professional attitude to school every day and passionately advocates for her students' success. Elaina’s sense of humor and creativity make learning enjoyable, and her role as an instructional leader is invaluable.”

The 2025 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence honor educators from diverse regions across the country who have made a significant impact in their classrooms and communities. As part of the award, Bouncer will be celebrated at the Salute to Excellence in Education on February 14, 2025, at The Anthem in Washington, D.C.

In response to the news, Bouncer shared her gratitude: “I was surprised when Mr. Freeman told me that he had nominated me for this award, and I thank him for seeing me as a leader in my classroom. It’s always a wonderful feeling to be recognized for one’s hard work, and this award marks a truly special moment for me. With this honor, the NEA Foundation has created an opportunity for me to collaborate with and learn from the experiences of my fellow awardees. This recognition will continue to guide my growth in the profession I love.”

“On behalf of the Public Schools of Robeson County, I would like to congratulate Elaina on this prestigious recognition for her work and her commitment to educating our students,” said PSRC Superintendent Dr. Freddie Williamson. “This is a wonderful opportunity for her to further hone her skills as an educator while representing PSRC on a national stage.”

The NEA Foundation’s Awards for Teaching Excellence have been recognizing exceptional educators since 2001. Five top awardees will be named Horace Mann Awardees, with one receiving the highest honor, the NEA Member Benefits Award.

Sara A. Sneed, President and CEO of The NEA Foundation, emphasized the importance of the award, stating, “These dedicated educators are a reminder of the critical role public education plays in shaping our society and nurturing future generations. During a time when public education is facing challenges, these awardees demonstrate the profound impact one educator can have.”

Len Mariani, Senior Vice President of Direct Distribution for Travelers, added, “Educators do so much more than teach—they mentor, motivate, and inspire the next generation. This year’s recipients are a remarkable group who have done so much for so many, and we are proud to partner with The NEA Foundation to honor them.”
