PEMBROKE – The Indian Education Cultural Academy has rescheduled its last week of cultural classes and its showcase for the end of the month to accommodate student attendance at various school fall festivals.
The Indian Education program will have classes on Monday, Oct. 24, and Tuesday, Oct. 25. The last night of classes, which will include the showcase event, will take place on Tuesday.
The showcase will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Indian Education Resource Center, located at 818 W. Third St. in Pembroke.
The change was made as a result of multiple schools scheduling fall festival events on Oct. 27, according to Dr. Connie Locklear, director of Indian Education.
“We do not want our students to have to choose which event to attend or for this to be a hardship on parents as they try to get their child(ren) to both events,” Locklear said.
The Cultural Academy showcase event is a “culminating event where students have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned,” she said.
