On Tuesday September 26, 32 FFA members attended the Federation Forestry Contest held at Lumber River State Park. The Lumberton FFA Chapter placed FIRST in the Federation Competition.
The purpose of the Forestry Career Development Event is to stimulate student interest and to promote forestry instruction in the agricultural education curriculum. By participating in this event, students gain an understanding of the economic impact of the forest environment and the forestry industry, while recognizing environmental and social factors affecting the management of forests.
During the contest students complete 4 practicums:
- Timber Cruising for Volume Board Feet
- Orienteering Course
- Tree Identification
- Forestry Equipment Identification
Our top four scoring individuals will be competing at Regional Forestry Competition in the Spring!
