2008 SkillsUSA Competition
 
 
 
The Robeson County Career Center SkillsUSA Chapter attended the SkillsUSA State Competition in Greensboro, NC on April 14-16, 2008. Before attending, the students were busy creating resumes and taking the required online tests. The students who attended were: Television (Video) Production: Destiny Baker-LHS, William Baxley-LHS, Derick Conely-RSHS, and Tracy Locklear-RSHS; Delegate: Keith Beckett-SPHS, Jayson Hall-SPHS; Carpentry: Chris Chavis-RSHS, Kinston Locklear-RSHS; Masonry: Sean Chavis-FHS, Jeffrey Hunt-LHS; Chapter Display: Brent Dial-PSHS, Jeremi Kababik-SPHS, Kristen Kerns-PSHS; Welding: Josh Boone (L), Kaleb Kling-FHS, William Prevatte-SPHS, Jonathan White-PSHS; Teamworks: Michael Lambert-PSHS, Cody Locklear-PSHS, Michael Locklear-RSHS; Residential Wiring: Derrick Locklear-SPHS, Fred Williams-LHS; Computer Maintenance Technology: Cameron Elleby-LHS, Ryan Locklear-PSHS, Shane Purdie-LHS; Observer: Matthew Miller-LHS, Shane McQuage (F); Internetworking: Nicklaus Sampson-PSHS; Architectural Drafting: Parker Smith-SPHS; Related Technical Math: Andrew Volkman-LHS.

Students sharpened their skills through competitive events against other SkillsUSA state members. The Teamworks competitors placed 5th. Kristen Kerns (PSHS) carried the torch as she explained to the judges about our Chapter Display (a robot built by SkillsUSA students). Pictured above is Kristen Kerns who won 1st place and will advance to the National competition in Kansas City, Missouri. Jayson Hall who is also pictured served as a delegate. Keith Beckett (SPHS) received state recognition for his NC Skills trade pin design for 2008. All state conference participants received a trade pin designed by Keith Beckett.
